Carlos Páez Vilaró has been creating art basically his entire life, all 86 years of it! Born in Uruguay, he moved to Buenos Aires as a young boy where he captured the magic of the nights in his first art pieces. Throughout his 60+ year career, Vilaró has traveled through Brazil, Senegal, Liberia, Congo, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cameroon and Nigeria, as well as New York and Europe. In the 50s, Carlos met Pablo Picasso, Dali, De Chirico and Calder and was invited by Picasso to show his work at Picasso’s residence. Throughout these years and travels, his work was influenced by the people and cultures that he met along the way. After many years of traveling, painting and sculpting, Vilaró returned to Uruguay and settled there. He has presented his works in more than 150 private and 51 shared exhibitions and it is estimated that he has created more than 4,000 pieces throughout his lifetime. Páez Vilaró has taken all his experiences and enriched his work, always looking for new ideas. With challenge acting as the major stimulus – and master of a brilliant work capacity, he has conquered admiration and acknowledgment worldwide. Most recently, Carlos started painting billfish. This original is one of the first pieces created with billfish and is priceless. His colors are exquisite and you can see the old master’s influence in his style. This is a rare opportunity for all of you discriminating collectors. Also included is a coffee table book of his works from 1950 – 2007.
